San Giustino is a modern agricultural and engineering city close to Città of Castello.
The origins of the village of San Giustino are very ancient indeed were found bronze artefacts and the remains of Roman villas. According to some, the same Pliny stayed in the village, where there is a hill called Pliny hill. Legends say that the name was given in honor of a Roman soldier named Justin, who was martyred around 300 AD in Umbria. The Castle Bufalini, at the center of the village, was a defensive fortress and then was transformed by Vasari in a magnificent manor house. Affrescato from Gherardi, it also contains a magnificent example of giardino all'italiana with a labyrinth. Near the city is Cospaia, a strip of land a few square kilometers, which for an error on a medieval map became an independent republic from 1440 to 1826. In its territory in 1575 was the first cultivated tobacco of Italy with seed brought from Spain by Abate Nicholas Tornabuoni, which in his honor was called tornabuona grass.
