Surrounded by a territory absolutely fascinating and worthy to be appreciated in all its beauty and interest, the town of Magione certainly occupies a place of great importance in terms of tourism and arts, basing its origins in the medieval period and maintaining intact today the traces of its glorious past. The village of Magione situated in a particularly fruitful small towns, among the largest are San Feliciano, Antria and Montesperello, in a series of landscapes and scenarios special and unique, able to unify culture and nature. Magione is one of the most famous territories of Umbria, characterized by an interesting historic and elegant location; the village is located on the eastern shores of Lake Trasimeno.

History of Magione

In terms of historical documents, references to the village date back to 1075, when Magione was known as Pian di Carpine; then were many events that interested the village, especially those that had as its object the Church. We can appreciate the Parish keeper paintings and works of great artistic significance, Church of Our Lady of Grace, whose construction began in 1200, the Municipal Palace, building dating from the nineteenth century and finally mention the Castle of the Knights of Malta, erected in the twelfth century.

Attractions in Magione

Originally, the village was cited by the name of Pian di Carpine for the presence of a botanical variety currently disappearance: White Birch from Frame, used as a symbol of municipal Magione. Walking along the streets of the city will be fascinating, certainly in a position to increase the interest in this wonderful and bewitching city center. Particularly interesting will be a trip to the Museum of Fisheries, a place to protect the ecosystem of beautiful Lake Trasimeno ; its visiting sections helps to understand the ancient history and culture of fishermen in the past.
